Meet some of our 2025 speakers

  • Luis Garcia - PsyD

The Importance of Self-Care and Holistic Health: Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual

This presentation will explore the intersection of mental health and the individual, family, and work-related challenges faced by healthcare workers. It will delve into systemic inequalities and the lack of culturally and linguistically appropriate services for the Latino community. Relevant support strategies to foster resilience and well-being within the Latino community will be discussed.

  • Valeria Domínguez Manning - NMD

Reconciliation Through Self-Care: Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Communities

We’ll explore fundamental principles of self-care: sleep, nutrition, movement, and mindfulness, exploring how simple practices can prevent chronic disease. Drawing on science and cultural wisdom, we will discuss how investing in our well-being improves our health and the health of future generations, bringing reconciliation.

  • Eduardo A. Borges - PWS, QPR

The Triangle of Power and the Eight Dimensions of Wellness: Practical Tools for the Community

Integrating the Triangle of Power (values, beliefs, and attitudes) with the eight dimensions of wellness transforms people's lives and strengthens organizations. Through examples, dilemmas, and strategies, attendees will learn how to use these concepts to improve their own well-being, that of their teams, and the people they serve.

  • Oscar Valencia - MA, PsyD

Understanding family ties and conflicts between the first and second generation of migrants.

Gaps in connection often arise between migrant parents and their native born children, affecting the family’s communication, understanding of one another, and bonds. This creates frustration, sadness, and anger. In this workshop, we will aim to understand these challenges and provide communication tools to strengthen bonds of love and family well-being.

  • Jorge Partida - PsyD

Reconciliation with our wounds and mistakes in order to accept the responsibility of self-care

We will explore the formation of automatic patterns of thought and behavior that lead to the adoption of self-destructive habits, which often occur on a subconscious level and block our ability to accept self-help. Central to this is the concept of worthiness. We will discuss how the subconscious convinces that we must be punished for the mistakes of the past.

  • María Lucero Sánchez Navarrete, Traditional Healer

    You are Your Healer

We’ll introduce traditional health techniques that serve as tools for promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual balance. The central purpose is to recognize the natural elements that are part of both the planet and physical body. We will express gratitude for life by recognizing the strength of the Earth's directions, embracing harmony and peace in being alive.

Session Highlight

Introduction to Data Justice

In this session, we will explore REALD (Race, Ethnicity, Language and Disability) and SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity), which are sets of standardized questions that help us better understand who is most impacted by health inequities and how we can best support community members to access the services and resources they need. We will discuss the need for data practices that promote equity and empower communities. We will breakout into small groups to discuss best practices with the REALD & SOGI questions in the context of behavioral health settings. Lastly, we will have an opportunity for discussion.
