Our…

Mission

The mission of Latinos Unidos Oregon (LUO) is to unify Latino providers across the state and nation, forming a single voice and community that advocates for those who are underserved. We aim to improve and increase access to behavioral health services through community outreach, networking, and the provision of culturally and linguistically specific training.

Vision

LUO's vision is to unite Latinos in the state of Oregon and form national and international alliances to strengthen culturally and linguistically specific behavioral health services.

“Unity strengthens us.”

Values

To serve our community and advocate with compassion.

Promote the well-being of our community.

Training and maintaining equality in our communities.

All of which are upheld through hope, determination, perseverance, resilience, courage, strength, bravery, tenacity, vitality, and vision.

History

The name “Latinos Unidos” was created by the BestCare Treatment Services staff at their recovery program in Madras, Oregon. After traveling throughout the state, Mr. Harry Zorrilla and Salvador Amezola, co-founders of the conference, saw the need for more culturally and linguistically specific training for people serving our Latino community.

The first conference took place in 2017. Things started coming together, and a committee was formed with the following members: Basilio Sandoval, Sergio Gutiérrez, Salvador Amezola, José Luis García, Luis Ibarra, Becky Ramirez, and Josh Guerrero.
